Strangers on Facebook with All-access
Do you choose who you add and what information you share on Facebook? I least I do, but when was the last time you checked the privacy settings of your Facebook apps? I don’t think I ever did that. I stumbled upon it and to my surprise, I have 51 apps which has access to my information … and my friends’. Why surprised? Simply because I’ve forgotten the existence of most of the apps. Only 7 out of 51 apps have been used recently. A click further revealed the information that the apps have access to. It seems that the Marketplace App, which I’ve only seen once in...

Videos are fun to watch and they’re an essential part of any good online business. Video production usually takes talents of different areas and an agency to coordinate the entire production. That requires a lot of time and a high budget, so we decided to take a different approach to make a simple video. We wanted a challenge of making a video with the least resources possible by utilizing our brains and available tools. The below entails the entire resource pool we used to make this video clip: Production tools: Photoshop, iMovie, iPhone and Macbook. Time: Two days for script writing and...

Google +1 button – you click, your mates know you like a certain site or page. It will boost your page and site rep, so it sounds pretty good and potentially very powerful. After dashing to install it, I can’t wait to click on my first +1 button. As I hovered over the button, this popped up: It states “Click here to publicly +1 this as [your name here]“. Ok, you got me at “publicly”. When I clicked on the almighty +1 button, this popped up: I halted. Then I had flashbacks of Google Buzz. All my thought bubbles scream “Privacy violation!”. It...
read moreMy Interview on MSC Grant
Who should apply for a grant? MEL: People with vision, passion & commitment to take their technology related idea from the drawing board to a successful reality- no matter what it takes. (And I would add, some business sense will be a pre-requisite) JEN: Anyone with an innovative idea, then figure out a way to make it work and grow in the real world scenario. Innovative means new and you have to find a niche where your business can serve. Niche doesn’t have to be small, it can be a market where there are needs but not yet served. You don’t have to be a tech super genius (as we are both not) and you don’t even have to be a super businessman (you don’t need this grant if you are). However, you need to have a good balance of tech and business senses. JEN: On a personal level, passion (about your idea) and perseverance (to see it from idea to execution) are very important. If you think I just decribed you, go for it! Even if you don’t think your idea is that great, go for it anyway! Never hurts to try.

An article I wrote for friedbeef.com. Enjoy! As I’ve been pretty lazy to carry my laptop around, but I like being in touch with my online contacts, I thought it might be a better idea to install a chat client in my mobile phone. Once only possible for people with smartphones and the likes, the availability of Java apps has made “normal” phones pretty smart. I’ve scoured the net for Java chat apps which work on my Sony Ericsson K750i (yes, I’m still using that) – it’s old but still does everything well. If the apps work on my phone, it’ll work better on your newer, fancier...

An article I wrote for friedbeef.com. Enjoy! Have you sometimes wondered how much longer conventional TV would be useful to us? It just dawned upon me 3 days ago that was the first time I switched on the TV in 2 months! Don’t get me wrong but I do watch TV shows and movies, it’s just that not on TV. In this era of media streaming and user created content, TV pales in comparison because of: Fixed airtime. We don’t like missing any episodes or rushing somewhere where there is a TV just to watch a programme (although that can be fun but very impractical most of the time) Loads of...
